Hi, I'm Jake. I've been cooking since I was six years old growing up in a family of foodies, the kitchen was always the heart of our home. Opening this place has been my dream for years, even while running other businesses, and I've poured a compulsive attention to detail into every part of it.

I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Once a week, my parents would drive 45 minutes each way into the city, just to get the best cheesesteak around. That tradition stuck with me my whole life, and as I got older I knew I wanted to bring that same city-quality cheesesteak home to the burbs. That's what Jake's Steaks is all about.

And the name? "Jake" isn't actually my legal name. When I was born, both my father and grandfather "both named John" were alive, and only one of them went by John, so no one quite knew what to call me. My sister, who was four at the time, started calling me Jake. It stuck, and I've been Jake ever since.
